Space mining - current issues and future challenges

Online Panel Discussion on Space Mining

9 - 11 - 2020 (17:00 CET)

Space mining as an idea dates back to the 1970s, yet it took almost half a century for states and companies to see the real potential in it. At the online event organized by the Hungarian Astronautical Society (MANT) and the Outer Space and Social Sciences Research Group (OSRG), we look at the increasingly topical question from several sides: why is it worth mining on an asteroid or at the Moon, what is the current level of technical progress and what are the legal issues regarding space mining?

Moderator: Balázs Bartóki-Gönczy (Head of OSRG)

Panelists:

Prof. Gábor Sulyok (international lawyer, university professor - SZE, OSRG)
Előd Both (astronomer, President of MANT)
Szaniszló Bérczi (physicist, associate professor, member of the MANT board)
Ádám Punczman (OSRG researcher)

Participation is free through the link below, no registration is required. The language of the event is hungarian (not translated).
